From Oslo to Gothenburg by Train!
One of the best aspects of Europe is the convenience of traveling between countries. I always prefer taking a train over a plane. It’s incredibly easy to go to the train station and hop on a train—no airport security, no need to arrive two hours early, and no baggage weight limits; you simply get on the train.
And on top of that, you don’t need to take a train to get into the city!
At any rate, we “hopped” a train to Gothenburg, Sweden; the scenery along the way was a bonus. My biggest regret of the trip thus far was walking to the hotel with our luggage once we arrived in Gothenburg. It was only 20 minutes, but the cobbled streets SUCK with luggage!
The Scandia Rubinen is a lovely hotel with a bigger room than the Clarion, but I am not going to lie; I miss our city view! I loved lying in bed in the evenings in Oslo watching the moon, the birds, the water, and all of the people who would line up outside of the pharmacy at midnight. We could not stop wondering what the heck they were buying at that hour!
Both hotels have amazing breakfast buffets, but once again the Clarion wins.
Since it was a travel day, and we lugged our luggage to the hotel, we had little energy left for sightseeing. We did manage to take a walk down to the historic district of Haga, and strolled through the “old town” area.
A quick bite of sushi, which was mediocre, and some delicious gelato and we were in bed! Tomorrow is another day for exploring and this old lady needs to rest!
Night y’all!
